Why did Socrates like to drink a cup of poison instead of leaving the city??

The charge against Socrates was made by an Athens court. "You are misleading our youth," was the headline.
There was great wisdom in Athens in those days. People would send their children to learn from sophists like Protagoras and agree to give them farms, houses, gold, horses, animals, and anything in return.
Socrates was preached the gospel by a priest in those days, "Socrates, you are the greatest father of Athens." He went to all the great sages of Athens and began to talk to them according to a certain kind of procedure.
Wherever he went, he overwhelmed the audience.
This process enlightened the so-called wisdom of Athens. They began to create an atmosphere against Socrates.
In doing so, they succeeded in making three major charges against Socrates.
  1. It is misleading our youth.
  2. It does not believe in our gods
  3. It presents the idea of a different God that no one has seen.
There was a big court. The whole city came together. Socrates had to clean up in front of everyone. Socrates, by his wisdom, dominated the assembly during the cleansing, but who can stop this from happening? A young man was presented as a witness against Socrates. Socrates misled the young man. Only then was the crime proved.
Socrates was given two options
  1. Or leave the city
  2. Or drink a cup of poison
Now my question to you is why Socrates did not leave the city and why he liked to drink a cup of poison???
Because he preferred to die just as he lived - with dignity and courage, honoring the beliefs and values he had spent his life teaching.

بہت باریک نقطہ ہے اگر سمجھ پاؤ تو سقراط زہر نہ پیتا تو مر جاتا
